The 2017 Fremont Solstice Parade takes place on Saturday June 17, 2016 in downtown Fremont. The parade begins at 1pm at 3rd and Leary Way. The historic Fremont Solstice Parade is produced solely by the Fremont Arts Council, a non-profit organization. We have been delighting crowds at the Center of the Universe with fantastic floats, marching bands, and other free-spirited street performances since 1989.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the Solstice Parade. Public art workshops are held early May through June to prepare for the parade. For more information on joining the parade, please contact email@example.com or visit their website www.fremontartscouncil.org for more on ways to get involved.
Today, the parade has been made famous (infamous!) by the inclusion of the Solstice Cyclists, a celebration of 1500+ naked-but-painted bike riders, who are released onto the parade route before the start of the Solstice Parade. This event celebrates the rebel in all of us! It is a “nude not lewd” event, where families are welcome to watch their friends bare all, paint up, and ride through the streets of Fremont!
The Parade ends at Gas Works Park (2101 North Lake Way) where the Fremont Arts Council hosts the Fremont Solstice Celebration ft. HONK Fest West (honkfestwest.com), a music festival of local and national community street bands. Join us for food trucks, a beer garden, art installations, and four stages of band performances. The Fremont Solstice Celebration begins at 3:30pm and rocks the park until 9pm.
Watching the Solstice Parade is best from a VIP Stage along the route, where a comfy chair, shade cover, and a host announcer is waiting for you. To reserve a VIP seat, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Please consult the parade map for general viewing locations and get your seats early as this beloved event fills the streets with spectators!
To support the work of the Fremont Arts Council and the Fremont Solstice Parade, please donate to the Green Hat parade ensemble as it passes by, or go directly to myfremont.org to make donations online. Fremont Arts Council is a 501 C-3 tax deductible, public arts organization.
Let your freak flag fly this Summer at the Fremont Solstice Parade and Celebration!
